Tearfund is a Christian international relief and development agency. We work through local churches to unlock people's potential and help them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves.
We work in more than 50 countries around the world. When disasters strike, we respond quickly. We won't stop until poverty stops.

Types of project
We run placements that are primarily aimed at Christians wanting to explore their faith in the context of poverty and development. You'll work closely with the local church on projects meeting the needs of the local community.
We have also recently launched a new placement called Explore. This is an opportunity for people of all faiths or none to volunteer alongside others with different beliefs and to explore the role faith plays in development.
Volunteer in Bangladesh where communities face natural disasters and are prone to flooding. You'll work alongside our partners as they teach new farming methods, and get hands on with disaster risk reduction helping communities to adapt to climate change.
Volunteer in South Africa and visit families that are living with HIV. You could find yourself running children's clubs, teaching and educating on the realities of HIV. You'll work alongside local church based organisations, developing health campaigns and running assemblies.
How it works
You'll be part of a group of six to twenty international and national volunteers, living in groups, some in rented accommodation and some in the homes of local people. You'll be supported by our in-country staff. As our placements are primarily aimed at Christians we encourage our teams to pray, worship and read the bible together.
