Tearfund is a Christian international relief and development agency. We work through local churches to unlock people's potential and help them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves.
We work in more than 50 countries around the world. When disasters strike, we respond quickly. We won't stop until poverty stops.

Types of project
We run placements that are primarily aimed at Christians wanting to explore their faith in the context of poverty and development. You'll work closely with the local church on projects meeting the needs of the local community.
We have also recently launched a new placement called Explore. This is an opportunity for people of all faiths or none to volunteer alongside others with different beliefs and to explore the key role faith based organisations have in sustainable development.
Volunteer in Bangladesh where you'll be living in host homes and joining with the Bangladesh team to inspire local youth to action, helping their communities get access to clean water, livelihoods, education and involved in politics.
Volunteer in South Africa and work on projects focused on child development. You could find yourself working in schools, running after school programmes, holiday clubs, youth groups and some HIV awareness workshops.
How it works
You'll be part of a group of six to twenty international and national volunteers, living in groups, some in rented accommodation and some in the homes of local people. You'll be supported by our in-country staff. As our placements are primarily aimed at Christians we encourage our teams to pray, worship and read the bible together.
