ICS is committed to ensuring the health, safety, welfare and development of all young people with whom it works regardless of gender, age, stage of development, disability, sexual orientation, religion, culture or ethnicity.

All participants who take part in activities organised by ICS should enjoy taking part in these without fear of harm. We guide all staff and volunteers to show respect for and understanding of young people’s rights and their safety and welfare and by so doing, conduct themselves in a way that reflects our principles.

Everyone involved in ICS is made aware of our policy and how to report concerns, including staff, volunteers, community leadership and host home families, and the local organisations volunteers work alongside.

All ICS agencies have a safeguarding policy, and a code of conduct, or volunteer agreement that ICS volunteers are expected to abide by. You will be given information about these documents after you have been placed with your ICS agency.

If you have concerns about the safety or well being of a young person or wish to talk to someone in confidence about a safeguarding issue please contact the ICS Lead Safeguarding Officer at VSO on +44 (0)208 780 7500 or
