World Youth Skills Day 2017

We held a free event in Newcastle on Saturday 15th July for ICS volunteers to develop vital transferable skills.

The day was jam-packed with useful training, workshops and motivational speakers to help develop both personal development and  employability skills, building skills gained by overseas ICS returned volunteers.

World Youth Skills Day was celebrated by ICS volunteers around the world, making it a truly global day for our network.

Here's 7 things we learnt from World Youth Skills Day.

What did the day involve?

Plenary sessions

We heard from our keynote speakers, as well as stories and performances from young people who have taken part in ICS and from other countries who ran their own World Youth Skills Day events.

Workshops and talks

There were a number of workshops and talks on everything from mobile journalism to pitching your ICS skills, public speaking to understanding why Parliament is important.
