Volunteer development

Volunteer personal development is a key part of ICS.

Alongside making a difference overseas, we work to build and develop our volunteers.

Volunteers benefit from comprehensive training as part of the programme, they take part in a challenging overseas placement and support work at home. This builds vital transferable skills that contribute towards personal development and finding a job.

In a recent survey of our volunteers:

  • 98% say that the experience has been very useful for their professional development
  • 99% say the experience has been very useful for their personal development
  • 97% keep in touch with their ICS teammates after placement
  • 96% would recommend the programme to others

At ICS we are committed to delivering an inclusive programme and will make reasonable adjustments throughout the journey to ensure that all volunteers have a positive experience of international volunteering.
