Why fundraise?

Fundraising is part of your placement

Fundraising is an important part of the volunteer journey. While your placement is largely funded by the UK government, by raising funds you contribute back to ICS and show your commitment to the programme. You enable more people to participate and learn some useful skills too.

Reaching as many people as possible

Your fundraising contributes 10% of the total costs of running ICS, and ensures that we can keep recruiting volunteers to participate on sustainable development programmes all over the world.  The more ICS volunteers we can send, the more people and communities we can reach, and the greater impact we can have fighting poverty.

Develop knowledge, develop skills

Fundraising helps you to learn more about ICS and how to explain it to others. As well as raising money, it’s a great opportunity to raise awareness of ICS and helps you to develop your skills and confidence.

These skills may come in handy overseas, for your action at home and future career plans. Fundraising is a great way to go out into your community, use your networks and inspire others to get involved in your ICS journey.

Your placement starts and ends at home.
